Umm...and when do you...

Umm...so I feel like I am lacking inspiration to blog about!  We have been so boring lately, and I have nothing fun to share, no cute pictures to post, all I have is a really warm laptop on my legs, and a sleeping husband on the floor.  Bless his tired heart, he has been working like a mad man for the last 2 weeks.  Ahhh...the joys of being a Pastor!

Lately I have been wrestling with when to do my quiet time/daily devotion/read my Bible/pray...whatever you like to call it.  I do not want to be too legalistic about it nor too relaxed.  I was talking to my bestest today and we had a great conversation, and she really encouraged me.  So then I was wondering, what do you all do and when-as in what time of the day?  Here is my struggle...I am NOT, let me repeat NOT a morning person, so the thought of getting up earlier then when Molly gets up really does not sit well with me.  Basically, I am stubborn and enjoy my sleep!  But I know a lot of people say give God your best, that's in the morning, before you start the day, etc, etc...  But if you are not a morning person, how does this work?  I usually do my "stuff" during nap time, when I am a lot more awake and the house is quiet.

So here is my question  for you all...when do you do your quiet time?  Morning, afternoon, after everyone goes to bed...what works for you...and anything else you want to add to this would be great.  I am just curious, and I really do not think there is a right or wrong time to do it, this is really just more out of curiousity.

Hope you all have had a great week so far!

I have to do it in the morning...but sometimes that time is interrupted by early risers. :)

My answer won't count. I am home with grown children who have left the nest. I have allot of quiet time that I waste sitting at my computer.

I am a morning person but I have no time in the morning as I have to get up and around for work and get Kyndra to the sitter. I wake up at 3:30 am and I think that is early enough and I'd rather not have to get up before then!

So quiet time for me is before I go to bed. I have to admit that I have been seriously slacking though. I think it has been a month since I have done any quiet time and that's all my fault by staying up a little too late and then going to sleep once I hit the sack. I have plans to break this habit.

I fit it in whenever I can. I know morning is best. I think that there is some truth to giving God your first moments of the day, even if it is just a prayer or song in the shower. :) But, I also try to do my actual devotions (bible reading/journaling) in front of my girls. Like, sitting in the playroom with them while they play. They aren't paying attention to me necessarily, but they know what i'm doing. I am hoping that is setting an example for them of how important it is to me. Do I do that everyday? no. I wish I did, but I can say that I've grown in the area of consistancy in the past few years. I love my time alone and crave it if I haven't done it in a day or so... It has become an important part of the day... whatever time of day it happens, I know that God is pleased that I took time out of my day to think of Him.

I'm not a morning person at all either! I've been reading "Hello My Name is God" in the car while I wait for the girls to get out of school. I haven't been doing so good about reading my Bible, but last night I wanted to look something up on that Bible Gateway that you told me about and then I ended up sitting here for an hour just reading Psalms. So, if I want quiet time ever, it has to be at night after everyone is asleep.

I am really bad at making enough devotional time. I find time to do everything else but little time for reading my Bible, especially. I really need to work on that.

The time I find is the best to get things done that really need concentration is at naptime. I don't do good with a lot of distractions, so it really helps me stay focused when the house is quiet.

For me it is alot easier now with the girls married, so my time is in the evening. My days are busy and babysitting keeps my morning and noontime booked. But, I love having my evenings usually around 10 before bed. I find I can sleep better too.
