Finally!

Yesterday before Molly and I left the house, I thought I would try to get a quick picture of her looking all cute.  Lately getting one good picture is hard, due to a certain stubborn 2 year old.  But my girl came through, at least for one picture...

It has been on the warm side here lately, and yesterday it finally started cooling down, so I jumped at the chance for Molly to wear her sweater dress and boots.  Good grief, by the time it gets down right cold here, she will have outgrown the dress!

Thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday about my brother.  I was telling one of his friends yesterday that it is hard to realize that I have surpassed all of his milestones.  I graduated college, grad school, got married, have a child, and he did not have the chance to do any of that.  But I also know that he is watching me from Heaven and is so proud that I was able to do all of that.  Again, thank you all!

We are pretty boring here, nothing too big going on, which is nice.  God is answering a lot of prayers for us right now, and once things get a little bit more definite, I can't wait to share with you all.  Remember-God IS faithful!  I am learning that even when I think something is not going to work out, it does, in God's timing, not mine!  Hard lesson!

We are starting a new series at church all about prayer.  I am pretty excited about it.  That is one thing I have been working more on, consistent prayer with the Lord.  I have been keeping a prayer journal where I basically pour out my heart and mind.  I found writing in a journal works better for me, because why is it when you sit down to pray you have ADD?  It's like you can't focus on anything!  So writing it all out helps keep me on track and helps with keeping my relationship with God going by the wayside.

In other news, I think we may be getting closer to moving Molly into a big girl bed.  I know some of you are wondering, isn't she 2, shouldn't she already be in one?  Well, yes-probably.  Molly has never once tried to climb out of her crib, so the doctor told us to leave her in there until she tries to climb out.  But she has fallen out...she tries to bend over to "pick" something up off the floor and tumbles over.  She is fine every time, it's like it just surprises her.  She doesn't even cry.  So we are starting to look for a bed, and all that stuff.  I know it will take a lot of patience with her, because she will totally get up and play.  Any tips, advice would be great on making the transition.  Thanks!

Have a great day!

Molly is so stinking cute! And she is so in style. I would wear that outfit! I am beginning to think we are the same person. Talking to Kim this weekend, I said I wanted to get Marley into her big girl bed. Marley has never tried to climb out either, but I have a feeling she is ready. Good luck!

Also I am so pumped that Kim is moving closer, now we all must meet in Chicago for an awesome mom trip!

When we got Jace his big boy bed, we made sure it was one he was excited about, so that he would want to be in it - it is Cars-themed and he LOVED it. We also put his toybox in his closet, only to open it up during playtime so that he wasn't tempted during naptimes.

Oh - and we put a babygate in his doorway, but that was mostly because he was by the stairs and if he did get up, we didn't want thim to fall down them when he was half-sleepy.

And I LOVE those boots. She is so adorable!

Molly is so cute in her little outfit. Love her hair.
We had a crib that went to a toddler bed when you took one side off & then from there we transitioned to a big girl bed. She will do great. That is good that she never tries to climb out.

I love Molly's picture! She is just a cutie-pie! Don't feel bad about the bed....Lily still sleeps half with us, half in her bed, which is in our room! I love your Phil Wickham song playing....love that one! The prayer journal is a good idea. Hope you have a great day, Kate!

Molly looks adorable in that cute dress and boots! What a sweet smile!

I am the same way when it comes to prayer. I write my prayers in a journal too. Seems to help me so much to stay focused and keep my mind from wandering.

Hope you have a great afternoon!

What an uplifting post, Kate! I will have to try the prayer journal thing. I am always writing things down so I think that a prayer journal might be something I could actually do.

As for the transition, don't feel bad. You and Molly have to be comfortable with the timing. Does Molly's crib turn into a toddler bed? That's what Alyssa's did. We had to move her out of the crib setting when she started leaping out right around 2 yrs old. She wasn't as ready for the big girl bed as I would have liked her to be, but we made it through. I ended up making a big deal about it and got her a new bed set to get her excited about it. In the beginning it was a little hard to get her to stay in her bed, but we did our regular bedtime routine stuff and then I explained to her it was bedtime and she needed to stay in her bed. The first few nights were hard because she'd just get up and walk around, but I would just sit there in her room a bit and stay quiet, and if she'd get out I would put her right back in. After working with her for a while and reassuring her that everything was okay, she finally understood that she needed to stay in her bed.

Anyhow...that's just my two cents worth! :)

P.S. Love Molly's outfit. So cute!

She is such a beautiful little girl.

Moving her into a "big girl" bed is going to be so exciting for her.........

When Evan was 22 months we moved him to his big boy bed and he took to it immediately.......However we would catch him sleeping in the corner of his room or BEHIND his swivel chair...UGH (scared us half to death when we couldn't find him one night)......Or we would catch him sleeping on his little sesame street pull out couch lol.....

Needless to say, he got the hang of it.........He felt so grown up too :0)

let us know how everything goes!!

Best of luck :0)

Molly is a doll!! Love those boots and her curls!! I love boring days, but not too many of them! :) Time goes by so fast when they start getting big, a big girl bed makes me sad to think about for my Mollie!

Sweet photo. She looks so big in that picture! Had to pull out the sweater dress in November??? We were wearing them in September :o)

Hey, if Bella would have stayed in her crib, I wouldn't have been in a hurry to get her out. She was out at 20 months into a daybed. Then she was content and never had issues at bedtime :o)

Molly is so adorable in those boots! And she is sitting so pretty! I know what you mean about trying to get at least one picture of them actually looking at you! It's so hard!

I'm sure she'll do well in a big girl bed. When we moved Thad into one we made a really BIG deal about it and bought him bedding that we knew he'd love and he was really excited as well. He loved it!

She is so cute in that little outfit. Did you get it from Target? If so, I totally plan on purchasing it this weekend ha!

We actually moved Autumn into a toddler bed at around 14-15 months. I feel like that was forever ago! We didn't have a problem with her staying in the bed then but there is a big difference between a child at that age and a very energetic 2 year old like Molly. I am sure she will do fine though! Good luck!

Hey good job for getting a good pic of Molly!! She looks cute in her little sweater dress. I can't be of much help on the toddler bed thing b/c Kyndra is still in the crib. :)

Great post today. It really got me thinking about what our pastor preached about today. I do hope we have a sermon about prayer soon.

I know exactly what you mean about the ADD. I sometimes find myself mind wondering, and not that it was intentional. I would be thinking of other things to pray about, and that would lead my mind off track and before I know it, I say "Sorry Lord, I's back to you now, PROMISE!" LOL

I hope the transition goes well to a big bed. Our friends put their little one in a big bed (double size actually... mom's hand me down) when she was JUST two! Crib was needed for baby #2. She did great! It wasn't until later when they started having issues (night wakings/nighttime playing etc.) But that develops has she matured...
