Calling All Moms

I need help!  I think I bragged about Molly too quickly!  She is doing wonderful at night sleeping in her bed, but naps are not happening in there.  Any tricks on getting her to stay in her bed?  I wouldn't mind if in a year from now she doesn't nap, and just plays quietly in her room, but trust me friends, she needs a nap!  If she does not nap, around 5 or so, it is not pretty at our house.

In other news, Molly and Daddy start gymnastics tonight.  I am so excited for them to do this together.  I am sure Eric is not as excited about it as I am, but he is looking forward to it.

By Wednesday we are expected to have over a foot of snow on the ground!  Then it's supposed to get really cold.  On Thursday our high is 15 degrees!  I don't mind the snow, but the bitter cold is not a friend of mine!

Okay, I am finished with my random Monday afternoon thoughts.  I have to go corral the kid, and put her back in bed!  Have a great day!

I took all of the toys out of Jace's room during naps until he got the point that he had to stay in bed.. but I have always allowed him to have a couple of books in bed with him. Usually he just gets tired looking at the pictures and falls asleep.

A baby gate in the doorway or keeping the door shut with a monitor so you can hear if she is saying she has to go to the bathroom or something helps too...

That's all I've got. Good luck!

So I wish i had some nap advise for you but we are kinda there with you. a lot of days are fine, but then there are days she falls to sleep in the car or will not stay in her bedroom. It is frustrating... I totally understand that yours (and mine!) need a nap. Just with they understood that!

No advice here b/c I'm not quite there yet! Although Kyndra has napped in the toddler bed at my mom's house. I put her in there and tell her she has to say and shut the door so there is only a crack. There's no toys or anything to tempt her to get up.

I hope Molly has a good time at gymnastics!!

We got some snow today but it's melted already.

I used to tell mine that they didn't have to sleep but they had to stay in their bed and that I would be back to check on them in a bit...by then they were sleeping. Usually...no other tricks except give her lots of books to look at in the bed.

I am horrible at giving advice like this because my kids have never been good nappers. Lily always took a nap in the chair in our living room. She has never slept in her bed though, not even at night. See, told you I'm not one to give advice on this subject. LOL!

I hope Eric and Molly have fun at gymnastics! And I was freezing this past week when it was in the 30's, so Boo to 15! Ha! The snow sure would be nice to see though! :)

Oh yeah, don't you have some exciting news you were supposed to share with us?!!

This probably isn't great advice...but I would lay in bed with them for a little bit and read them a book..usually they would fall asleep by the time I was done and A. I would be asleep too or B. I would sneak out of the room. That is one way to do it.
Or like the others have said let them read a couple of books...depends on how desperate you get girl!! I will say a little prayer...been there 3 x's! Just find what works and go with it!

How old is she? The transition from dropping the nap can be a bear!! I remember those 5-6pm hours WELL! Can you try an earlier bedtime? Another thought is to call 'naptime' "rest time". She has to stay in her bed and rest, maybe even look at books, but she has to rest. More often than not, the rest will turn to slumber.

This is a tough one. I hope that things are getting better these last couple of days. I agree with the others that you have to do what works for you, and also agree that taking toys out of the room helps a lot!

I wish I could help. Bella didn't sleep for 3.5 years. You don't want my advice :o)
I hear ya on the cold. We hit -15 yesterday morning. Not fun. Not warm. It was the kind of cold that hurts when you breath.

I just stated reading your blog and we struggled with naps just recently. We put a baby gate up and sometimes my son would "entertain" himself for over an hour before he would fall asleep on the floor or his chair. After a few days/maybe a week of that he finally started to just stay in bed and sleep. He has no toys in his room so I'm pretty sure he was just looking at books and wandering around until he fell asleep! Good luck.
