Birthday Post-Part 2

Now where were we?  Ahh...yes, back to the birthday celebration...My mom came up with a really cute and simple gift for Molly to make me for my birthday.  She took a small glass vase, tissue paper, some modge podge, and two flowers on a stick to create a beautiful bouquet.

She said Molly had a blast gluing the tissue paper on the vase and she loved decorating the flowers.  It is so simple yet so meaningful because it's not like in a week you have to throw the arrangement away.  This gift will be one of many that I will cherish forever.  And probably display until I die :)  So now I know what we will be making for lots of gifts for people...plus with all the cool modge podge's out there like sparkles, we can have a lot of fun making neat crafts!
Awhile ago when my mom and I were talking about Christmas gifts I told her that I wanted my blog printed off and made into a book.  Mainly because I have never backed my blog up and when my computer crashed before Lucy was born I was sick to think of all the pictures we lost...but by the grace of God were recovered.  So that is what I wanted for Christmas, but I got it for my birthday instead.  My mom wanted to wait until I finished blogging about the year 2010 so the book could be complete.  I am so glad she did!

Each book represents a year of blogging.  It has been so much fun going through and reading all my old posts and looking at pictures.  It actually helped remind as to why I started blogging in the first place and what blogging means to me.  So it has been a fun ride down memory lane!

Thankful

I was originally going to post about the great gifts my mom got me for my birthday, but plans changed.  Eric has been sick since Saturday night.  Thankfully not like stomach sick, this lady can only handle so much, and that is not something I am good at handling!!  He has the cold virus going around.  Nothing you can do for it other than wait it out.  And pass it on to your kids...that's what Eric decided to do.  I guess he is teaching them a life lesson about sharing, ha.  So taking care of two sick kids and a husband has been my role the past couple of days.

One thing I have really realized these past couple of days is how truly spoiled and blessed I am to have a husband that does a lot.  I know how to shovel the driveway, but Eric usually takes care of it for us, but on Sunday, I shoveled the drive that was covered with snow and ice and it made me sooo thankful that I don't have to do that on a normal basis.  When trying to take care of 2 kids at the same time it made me realize all the times I get upset that Eric doesn't do more, I need to remember all the things that he does do, and the chores he does help me with.  Because when I am missing that help, it really shows!  I feel like an octopus missing some arms without Eric around.

So tonight I feel a little stressed, a little emotional, and very thankful for a husband who really is amazing and helpful.  So I leave with you these...

Birthday Post-Part 1

Good Monday afternoon :)

Saturday was my 27th birthday and I have to say I don't really feel older, other than we registered Molly for 4K this morning and that makes me feel old!  But really, I feel the same like I did when I was 26.  Birthdays were a big deal in my family and when Eric and I got married I thought they would remain a big deal.  Talk about setting the bar really high...and causing some disagreements.  So we have learned to compromise, he gets me a card for my birthday and I go all out for his birthday, ha.  Okay, so not really, but lets just say he is getting better and better each year with the birthday celebration.

For Christmas Eric got me a gift card for a massage, and I was so excited!  I wanted to wait until it was closer to my birthday to use it and I am so glad that I did!  Eric also found on Groupon last week 50% off at a local salon, so he scheduled a pedicure and a manicure for me.  I totally love that he made the appointment!  So on Thursday I got a massage and on Friday morning I got all my nails done!  My mom is visiting this week and I knew that Eric wanted to take me out to dinner just the two of us, and my mom was thrilled to watch the girls.  What I didn't know was that Eric also booked a hotel room for the two of us to celebrate my birthday.  He told me on Friday because he wanted to make sure I packed everything that I would need like make-up, hair brush, etc.  All the stuff that a guy might forget about!

So we got all dolled up to go eat at a really cool and trendy place called Water Buffalo.  It was awesome!  And I got a free dessert for my birthday.  Then we stayed at the fanciest, most modern looking hotel I have ever seen.  Seriously you would probably see this place on the Travel Channel or HGTV.  The place was packed when we came back from dinner.  I never realized how many people go to hotel bars and restaurants even if they are not staying there.  Probably because I never have done that before, but lots of people on Friday night were at our hotel.  And they even had little treats for the dogs staying there.  It was so cute :)

Here are some pictures...all the hotel ones are from inside our room, I was too chicken to take ones down in the lobby!

So that was my birthday from Eric...and boy oh boy did he out-do himself this year!!  I felt so special these past couple days.  It is such an awesome feeling to know that my wonderful husband was planning and sneaking around behind my back, in a good way, no in a great way all to make my birthday memorable.  Thanks babe, love ya!

Tomorrow I will share what my mom got me for my birthday, and for all you bloggers you will LOVE it!  And also what Molly made me for my birthday, it is soo cute and a really good idea that you all might want to use!
Thank you all for your birthday wishes on Twitter and Facebook, I loved reading all of them!  Have a great day!

Come Home ~ A Love Story

Have you ever heard a song on the radio and thought to yourself  "man, I really hope so and so hears this" or "this song would be great for someone struggling with this, I hope they hear it."  Lately there has been one song that I hear over and over on KLove and I think all the time "I truly hope the person that needs to hear this does."  Not once did it ever occur to me that I am that person that needs to hear it.  Not until last week.  I was driving home from work, getting ready for a meeting at our house that night, and I took a different way home, was stuck in traffic about to lose my mind with all the crazy people on the highway, and then this song came on...

The one part that says "there is power in the blood of Jesus" gets me every time.  And that was before I realized I "needed" this song.  Now I am a huge wreck when I hear it.

The lyrics to this song really resonate with me and the season of life I am in right now.  The whole "come home" to me always reminds of someone who has lost faith, or walked away from their faith, like the prodigal son.  But when I sat and thought about it, coming homes means just that, come home to the Lord.  I am not sure how to put my emotions and thoughts about this song into words, other than they truly speak to me however cliche that sounds.  When it talks about running and searching for something, I guess I always think someone looking for faith, but for me it means running from the Bible, or from things and people that God is trying to use to build me up.  I am going to let you in on a little secret, I am not perfect, gasp, I know, right.  I struggle every single day with reading my Bible, I struggle everyday to not say a bad word, I struggle everyday praying, I struggle everyday to set a good example of a Godly wife, mother, and person for my girls.  I struggle everyday to not say something snarky back to Eric, and to respond with love instead.  I have struggles and hurdles to jump and climb.  Some are bigger than others, and some days I do "okay" at life.

So wherever you are in your faith, in your life, in your walk with God, or if you are not walking with God right now, just know you are welcome any time at home with your Heavenly Father.  What a great thing to know and feel on Valentine's Day nonetheless.  Remember "there is power in the blood of Jesus and your father is screaming just come home."

...and it was AWESOME!

I just wanted to pop in real quick to tell you all about a wonderful Sunday we had at The Ridge this past Sunday...

Since we meet in a high school we don't have access to do baptisms on a weekly basis, or even like a monthly basis.  So we schedule special days to do them, and now meeting at the school it's nice because we can use their pool.  Whereas before when we met in the movie theater we would use other churches, peoples pools, etc.  So we baptize people in the pool with a live video feed into the auditorium so everyone can see what is going on.  It's pretty cool if I do say so myself.  Well we scheduled this day to be baptism Sunday, and as of Saturday night we had about 15 or so totally 100% confirmed to get baptized.  Which we were thrilled, I mean we would be thrilled if it was just 1 person.  On Sunday we had extra clothes ready for people who decided to get baptized right there on the spot.  We have never done this before.  Not like we would turn someone away, but no one has ever really decided on the spot to do it.

We ran out of clothes and towels!  We had over 60 people get baptized!!  Oh my word!!  My eyes still tear up just typing that!  It was so awesome to stand among other believers and watch these fabulous people make a decision to become a follower of Jesus.  What a great honor it was to be apart of their journey when they took this huge step!  Up here alter calls are met with really nervous people and a lot of apprehension.  So we don't typically do them, but we did on Sunday, well we had a time of decision making, and people made decisions!  This is so HUGE!  Our people really allowed God to work in their hearts and they were so open to the Holy Spirit's prompting.

I don't have any pictures to share, but let me tell you what a site it was.  Seriously, it was AWESOME!

Lucy is 2 months old!

First off, can I please just tell y'all it's taken me about 6 hours to write this post, sheesh...okay now...

Lucy, you are 2 months old!  Holy wow, 2 months has flown by!  Here is what you are up to, literally!
-You weigh 15lbs 4oz...I honestly thought it would be more, but you surprised me with this modest number, you are "greater than the 95%" according to the doctor
-You are 23 inches long, 80%
-Head Circumference is in the 55%, but I am not sure the exact measurement
-You smile all the time
-You are starting to drool, a lot...I know so attractive :)
-You talk a ton, and even if nothing is coming out of your mouth, your lips are moving like a million miles a minute
-You are drinking all formula now...and it's still pretty much on demand...hence the weight percentile, and you drain a 6oz bottle no problem
-You were sleeping pretty well, and now you have decided against that
-You hate shots, found that out today, and you proceeded to tell me about for the last 6 hours
-You are still the sweetest, happiest baby living in this house
-Your big sister adores you, although she is a little rough at times, she means well, and she will always have your back, figuratively and literally, she likes to wrestle
-You went out in your first blizzard aftermath this week...pics coming tomorrow!
-Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for you, and the light you brought into my life and into this family!
