Road Trip!

Last Thursday morning the girls and I loaded up the car and pulled out of the driveway at 4am.  Just me and the two girls...we were going on a road trip!  Our niece, Mandy, was graduating from high school and I wanted to be there.  Eric was not able to come, he was scheduled to preach and he was doing 3 weeks in a row, so it was just easier for him to be here and not try and mess with scheduling at church.  I was a little nervous before we left, but the girls did awesome on the way there.  The weather was crappy, it rained most of the way, but half way through Indiana it stopped and it was cloudy and sunny the rest of the drive.  We only stopped once to feed Lucy and go potty.  Once we got to Ohio it was like a mad dash...my MIL made all of the food for Mandy's graduation party and I was the trusty side kick.  The first night we stayed up till midnight cutting potatoes, because what's a party without 25 pounds of potato salad, ha!  So Thursday and Friday were spent getting ready for the party, the party was Friday night, and it was a huge hit.  Saturday we played and rested.  We went to the park and let Molly run all over, and Saturday was also our 6 year anniversary.  Sunday I went to church with my dad, and in the afternoon was graduation at Liberty Benton, then Sunday night we packed everything up so on Monday morning we could leave to come back to Milwaukee.  It was a fun, busy, crazy, not so relaxing but had a good time type of trip.  So to all of those Ohio friends that I really want to see...no worries!  I will be back and we will plan a big old bash!

The drive home Monday was okay...it's harder when you leave during the day since Molly at least won't sleep like she did when we left at 4am.  And I didn't bring the DVD player, so she was left to her own devices.  She did good, Lucy screamed numerous times, and it's not like I could turn around and hand her her pacifier, and Molly couldn't reach her.  But we managed and thankfully traffic was not bad at all going through Chicago.  Overall it was a great trip, I am more tired now than before we left, but it's a good tired.

I would be way to scared to take a trip like that alone. You are an awesome mommy to do that with your kids.

Glad the girls did pretty well in the car for you. Tough drive alone. I would be prone to falling asleep!
