...and then there was one...and some other random musings!

On Sunday morning Molly boarded a plane with my mom and step-dad.  She is flying back to their home in Rochester, NY.  She will be gone all week, until my mom and Phil fly back with her on Saturday.  I am missing her, but I also know she is having a great time and getting spoiled rotten.  I am very thankful for Face Time so we can chat each day and I can see what a fabulous time she is having.  And now acting like we only have one child, well, it's been nice.  Lucy gets a ton of attention and she loves that.  It's easier when trying to get around and nap time, ahhh peace!  But Lucy I think is making up for Molly's presence, she goes around yelling and running.  So although it sounds like we still have 2 kids under one roof, it's just one!

Here is what else we have been up to...

I went strawberry picking for the very first time in my life.  It was a blast!  We had to dig and search and pick some more, but I ended up with over 9 lbs of berries.  I have no idea what I am going to do with all of them, but I am sure Pinterest can help me out!  I went with a really good friend of mine, so it was fun to chat and compare red hands, and by the end we both had hives on our arms from the leaves of the plants.  Good times!

I ran today for the first time in over 2 weeks.  I was going to run yesterday but my legs were so sore from berry picking on Sunday, I seriously hurt!  So this morning the old alarm went off at 5am and up I went.  Okay, up I went around 5:15am when I realized that that was my alarm still playing music, it's all a little confusing that early in the morning!  I am borrowing a knee brace from a friend for my knee.  It's really tight, so I literally can not feel anything in my knee, so not sure if it's supposed to be that tight, but I am glad my knee did not hurt!  So I am going to try and finish training for this half.  I am running a 5K race next week, I think, it's coming up, I know that.  Today I did 2.6 miles, then decided that might not be what the doctor meant when she said start back slow.  Oh well!

And then there is this one!  She is loving the attention from mom and dad.  She misses Molly, but I think she is liking the only child gig.  When her and Molly see each other on Face Time they scream like high school girls, and then proceed to kiss the phone over and over.  It's funny!  But now Lucy thinks everyone Face Time's, so she is always looking at my phone, like who is on there?!  Sadly, she is disappointed a lot!

Well, I am off to try and clean out, reorganize, and spruce up Molly's bedroom.  I have all these great plans of getting a ton of stuff finished around the house, and now I have totally lowered my expectations!  I will be lucky to accomplish Molly's room, ha!  Have a great Tuesday!

Almost Forgot...Miss Lucy is 18 months old!

Mom of the Year Award goes to...not me!  When Lucy turned 18 months I thought I will wait and post when we go to the doctor so I have some fun stuff to write.  Well, we went to the doctor almost 2 weeks ago!  So laying in bed last night and I kept reminding myself over and over I have to document this since I have never filled in her baby book!

Lucy you are 18 months old...here is what you are up to...
-You weigh 32 lbs 13 oz...greater than the 95%...at least you are consistent!
-You are I have no clue how many inches tall...ha!  I know you are in the 90%
-You are wearing size 6 diapers
-You are in 3T and 4T clothes, depends on brands and if they were hand me downs or not :)
-You are ornery and really funny, and you know both about yourself!
-You love being outside, any time you can escape outside you try!
-You love being in our little pool, after a freak accident with the sprinkler, what's a little water shooting in your face while mommy laughs?!  You now are terrified of the sprinkler and getting water in your eyes.
-You love to swing on your new swing set.  We could swing you for hours, you just love it!
-You love to look at books and have them read to you, and you also love puzzles!
-You still ADORE Molly.  Anywhere she goes you follow, and then try to do what she is doing, too.  You both love one another so much it makes my heart swell and my eyes fill with tears.  Lucy, you may not survive when Molly goes away next week to visit Grandma and Papa.
-You talk ALL the time...and you are forming your words wonderfully!  Lots of people comment on how well you speak, which makes this speech mom's heart proud!
-You eat just about anything...except you like bread and cheese individually, but do not give you grilled cheese, you won't eat it!
-You have a slight obsession with shoes...if someone has their shoes on and you don't, look out, we better get your shoes on ASAP!  Also, you just love shoes!
-You have allergies pretty bad right now, you are a little pitiful with sneezing, coughing, and you leak snot :)  Plus, you are still getting teeth...you are just a hot mess!
-I could go on and on, but I will just say these last 18 months have been fun, emotional, trying, and just blissful with you, Lucy.

You always *let* Molly do your hair, haha!
 You love some chocolate pancakes!
 The outdoors, your second home!
 Typical Lucy face :)
Playing in the pool, all time favorite!

Our New Toy

When I was younger I dreamed of having a fancy wooden swing set to play with.  There was a business on the outskirts of the town I grew up in that had some of these swing sets out for display, when we would drive by I would make a lot of memories on those swing sets.  You know in the 30 second drive by's.  I always envisioned my self running, playing, having a great time with my friends.  Well, I never got my dream swing set.

It came down to money I think.  Those things are expensive!  And although I never went without, I didn't always get what I wanted either.  I always hoped some day I could get my kids a big, wooden swing set to play on.  And this year my dream came true.  After much looking, adjusting to a realistic budget, looking some more, price matching, you get the point we got the girls a swing set {insert Hallelujah chorus here!}.

So we have been having a ton of fun swinging, sliding, picnicking, and just truly enjoying our new swing set.  I know it seems silly, but watching my girls swing on it makes my heart so full of joy.  Molly and Lucy both love it, and we have played on it almost everyday since Eric built it.  As much as I would have loved to get the girls a big old swing set, our budget and yard would not allow it.  So we have a nice, modest, perfect for our family swing set.  So on these summer days you will find us doing a lot of this...

Happy Summer!!

My achin knee!

I have had so many posts I wanted to share with you all, and it's just been one of those weeks where it's like, "wow, that takes a lot of effort."  Laziness at it's finest, friends!  So hopefully I jump back on the bandwagon here...

I was going to link up to Miscellany Monday with Carissa, but I am going to whine and sulk for a little bit...no really, I was going to revisit some of my goals that I so loudly stated in January.  Which I think I still will, just not today.  But some day this week I will.  Today I am going to touch on one of my goals...running a half marathon.  There are two reasons why I want to run this half...
#1- Last year while snacking and watching "The Biggest Loser", classy, right, well at least I am honest, I was watching these larger people running a full marathon and truthfully I thought, "if they can run 26.2 miles, surely I can run 13.1 miles."  Am I right?!  I mean c'mon, those contestants are super inspirational!

#2- The biggest reason I wanted to run this half marathon is because this year I will have lived half my life without my brother.  I was 14 when he died, and the anniversary of his death is in July.  So 14 years with him, 14 years without him...half my life.  I have been able to do more and experience more then my brother ever did in his short 22 years on this earth.  Running a half marathon is something I never thought I would do, but I am going to.  I am doing it for my brother.

Now the real kicker comes in, the whining and sulking...I hurt my knee.  About a month ago I experienced come excruciating pain while running.  So I did what any novice runner would do, rest, then run again, my knee hurts, rest, then run again.  I have done this cycle for over 4 weeks now, and it finally caught up with me on Saturday.  I literally could not run any more, like my knee could not, would not even make a slight running motion, it just couldn't, it just hung there.  It's painful and I finally broke down and went to the doctor today.  They don't believe I have torn anything, or totally ruined it, but I have to rest for a good long while.  This little rest hiatus does not play well into the running plan.  Like it doesn't play into it at all.  So now I am stuck, I don't want to blow my knee out, but I also want to finish something I started, I don't want to be a quitter.  And this all goes beyond some silly race, I just want to finish something, I want to reach my goal.

So my prayer is after rest, ice, and medication my knee is miraculously healed to run this race Sept. 1.  The doctor said probably not, but who knows.  I am at least going to go out trying.  So tonight I am sulking and eating a brownie, tomorrow I rest, pray, and start my at home physical therapy.
Thanks for listening friends...I promise the rest of my posts will be more uplifting this week!
